About Rooster Sailing Ltd

Born from a love of dinghy sailing, Rooster® was founded in 1999 by Steve Cockerill with a simple mission, to make high quality, accessible sailing gear for everyone.

What began as a personal project in a spare room has grown into a trusted technical clothing brand supporting sailors and watersports enthusiasts across the world. While sailing remains at our heart, Rooster® gear is designed for versatility across the water, from paddleboarding and kayaking to foiling and beyond, adapting to changing conditions all year round.

We are a small team of passionate sailors and watersports enthusiasts who design, test and wear our kit ourselves. We are not here for trends, we are here to make kit that works, lasts and performs when you need it most.

Role Overview

Rooster is looking for a proactive, organised and creative Marketing & Events Assistant to join our team in Fareham.

This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the day-to-day delivery of Rooster’s marketing activity, events, partnerships and Team Rooster programme.

We’re looking for someone who combines creativity with strong organisation. You’ll be comfortable creating and working with content, but equally happy managing spreadsheets, updating systems, following processes and making sure the detail behind our marketing activity is taken care of.

A background in sailing is important. You should understand the sailing and racing environment, from club and class sailing through to national and international events, and be comfortable communicating with sailors, class associations, partners and event organisers.

This would suit someone looking to build a career in sports, sailing or brand marketing and gain experience across a broad range of marketing activities within a busy watersports brand.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Content Support

  • Support the day-to-day delivery of Rooster’s marketing calendar across email, website, social media and other channels.
  • Monitor Rooster’s social media channels, identifying relevant content from sailors, riders, partners, classes and events to engage with and reshare in line with our brand and social media guidelines.
  • Help create simple social media graphics, digital assets, event materials and other marketing content using Adobe Creative Suite or similar design software.
  • Assist with preparing and scheduling social media content, emails, website updates and campaign assets.
  • Help organise and maintain our photography, video and marketing asset libraries.
  • Work accurately within established brand guidelines, processes and campaign plans.

Team Rooster & Partnerships

  • Support the day-to-day management of our Team Rooster platform and community.
  • Maintain regular communication with Team Rooster members, helping to build positive relationships and encouraging content, feedback and engagement.
  • Monitor Team Rooster activity and social content, identifying achievements, stories and opportunities that Rooster can support or share.
  • Assist with applications, onboarding, records, discount codes, agreements and other administration associated with the programme.
  • Support communication with sailing classes, sponsored events and other Rooster partners.
  • Maintain accurate records of partnerships, agreed support, deliverables and activity.

Events

  • Support the planning and delivery of Rooster's presence at sailing events, championships, exhibitions and boat shows.
  • Assist with event preparation including stock and equipment planning, signage, marketing materials, staff information and event administration.
  • Attend events as part of the Rooster team, helping with stand set-up, customer engagement, content capture and general event delivery.
  • Help capture and coordinate photos, videos and stories from events for use across Rooster’s marketing channels.

This role requires regular travel and weekend working, particularly during the busy spring and summer sailing season. Time off in lieu will be managed in line with company policy.

Marketing Administration & Processes

  • Support the Head of Marketing and wider marketing team with general marketing administration.
  • Maintain marketing spreadsheets, trackers, calendars, databases and internal systems.
  • Help coordinate samples, prizes, promotional products, event materials and partnership requirements.
  • Follow established processes accurately and help identify opportunities to make recurring tasks more efficient.
  • Learn and confidently use the different systems and software required within the role.
  • Work across departments including marketing, product, sales, purchasing and warehouse teams when required.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • From a sailing background, with a good understanding of dinghy sailing, racing, sailing classes and the wider sailing event structure.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable following established processes, guidelines and brand standards.
  • Confident using computers and able to learn new software and systems quickly.
  • Creative, with an eye for good imagery, layout and engaging content.
  • Able to demonstrate some graphic design skills; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar would be beneficial.
  • Familiar with Instagram, Facebook and other major social platforms from a brand/content perspective.
  • A clear and friendly communicator who enjoys building relationships.
  • Comfortable communicating with everyone from young sailors and parents to class associations, event organisers and professional athletes.
  • Proactive and willing to get stuck into the practical side of events as well as office-based work.
  • Able to manage multiple smaller tasks without losing track of the details.
  • Happy to travel within the UK and occasionally internationally.
  • Available to work weekends when required, particularly during the sailing season.
  • A team player who is equally comfortable taking direction and working independently on clearly defined tasks.

Useful, But Not Essential:

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or Lightroom
  • Canva or similar design platforms
  • Shopify or other ecommerce platforms
  • Email marketing platforms
  • Meta Business Suite
  • Photography or short-form video creation
  • Event organisation
  • Sports sponsorship or ambassador programmes
  • Marketing administration
  • Excel / Microsoft 365

We don't expect you to know every system from day one. Being comfortable with technology, willing to learn and able to pick up new processes quickly is more important.

Benefits

  • Company pension
  • Private medical cover
  • Staff discount on Rooster products

This is an opportunity to work across a genuinely broad range of marketing activity within an established sailing and watersports brand.

You'll gain hands-on experience across digital marketing, social media, events, partnerships, content creation and community management, while working closely with an experienced in-house team.

No two weeks are quite the same. One week you might be helping prepare a campaign from the office; the next you could be supporting the Rooster stand at a national championship, gathering content from sailors or helping deliver one of our major partnerships.

Most importantly, you'll become part of a small team where you'll have the opportunity to learn quickly, take on increasing responsibility and see the direct impact of your work.

How to Apply

We’re less interested in how you say you’re creative — and more interested in how you show it.

To apply, email Careers@roostersailing.com with your CV and a Cover letter along with any supporting material you feel best represents your experience and creativity. This could include examples of design, content, photography, video, campaigns or social channels you’ve worked on — you decide what tells your story best.

Application deadline: 30th October 2026.
