Description

Rooster's Zero is a 12 braided 'hollow' rope made from quality UMHPE fibres before being treated to reduce any stretch to a minimum.

The heat treatment also makes this line maintain its shape in cleats, which is an unusual quality in many Dynema lines. We cut our travellers to 3.3m so that in the unlikely event that it were to start to show wear, you would be able to end for end the rope. The 3.3m also gives you enough of a handle to tension - although with so little stretch, you might want to tension your traveller before you put your rudder on.

    Does the job

Got a gorilla tiller and the traveller restricts rudder movement slightly due to the shape of the tiller.

It spliced well and was reasonably priced.

It is zero stretch (nearly) which is great but does deform out of shape which just looks slightly un tidy when de rigging.

The clam cleat and the toe strap elastic I purchased alongside sadly doesn’t match up perfectly (this was a rooster product) as the zero traveller dyneema doesn’t secure as tight as desired in the cleat.

But it is an improvement over my old traveller rope.

And allows for smoother rear mainsheet block movements. If you do not have either a harken or a well taped (stiff) holt block then the traveller cleat will collapse in on itself mid sail in windier conditions and get stuck on the other side of the bot to the tac you are on.

However it does stop the mainsheet getting caught around the gunwale.

I’m not very happy with this product I’m just Happy.

I’m sure there is better out there for the same price.

    But it does the job.

Comments noted. With a Clamcleat (a 'v' cleat) to make a perfect grip you need the control rope to has a small amount of 'give' to force the rope into the valley cleat teeth 100%, if you use a zero stretch rope then this will not happen 100%, but you don't want to use an even slight stretchy traveller control rope as that defeats the efficiency of the Laser/ICLA traveller control rope... With regards the traveller mainsheet blocks - Tip: Use SELF-AMALGAMATING TAPE (rather than PVA electrical tape) and this will make the blocks stand up and solid..

Worth the upgrade, it's not expensive. It would be better if it was pre-spliced. The fids are expensive, and make sure you get the right one! Not worth the trouble trying to take shortcuts on this. Also, make sure you've got a good cleat. The rope is quite slippy, so an old cleat will struggle to grip the rope properly.

The perfect traveller doesn't stretch, works best when spliced, would definilty reccomend.
