Deluxe Aluminium Tiller Extension for the Laser®.
Made from anodized 16 mm Aluminum tube. Supplied fitted with a UJ and an EVA foam grip.
Aluminium tiller extensions are not as strong or stiff as a carbon extension but a lot cheaper and a good option for those on a tight budget.
The difference between carbon and aluminium? - Carbon produces a very light weight, high strength extension. The stiffness can be controlled by the materials used and because it has a certain amount of flex, it will not bend out of shape - the downside, this technology can be expensive. Aluminium, however, is a simple low tech solution that just employs a length of aluminium tube which, if abused, will bend out of shape but can usually be straightened. If the tube is made too thick to help reduce the risk of bending, the tube becomes too heavy to use. This extension therefore is a trade off between price, strength and use.
