Description

Low profile neoprene buoyancy aid, specifically developed to fit snugly in all the right places. Unique to Rooster, this CE12402-5 level 50 certified buoyancy aid is an advance in our buoyancy aid range. Complemented by minimalist styling to match the maximum kit combinations. It is longer and thinner to be less bulky when worn – there is minimal adjustment to limit bulk, however the neoprene allows it to stretch to fit to your body size.

The race armour buoyancy aid is developed with sufficient buoyancy as per regulation EN ISO 12402-5:2020 level 50, Practice and training are required with this device before use. Teach the child to float in this buoyancy aid.

Great fit and slim profile

The low profile design is perfect for getting under the boom without getting caught on an ILCA, or any other single handed boat. The design of having 2 pockets is great for storing snacks and spare rope or tape. The 'hugging' fit is great as it doesn't move around while sailing.

Buoyancy Aid

Not tested it out in anger yet - fit is good and love that there are no clips straps of buckles to worry about. As with all my rooster kit the quality is brill and looks good too.

Can’t wait for the new season to test it out - for comfort of course as I don’t go in as often as some!!

Sleek and very snug

I bought this in size medium last week. It arrived promptly and was beautifully packaged. I was impatient and wriggled into it over my usual daytime clothes - a cotton long sleeve shirt and a lightweight fleece. My initial impression was disappointment. It simply felt too tight. (I’m slightly built, about 5ft 9in, 36in chest and weigh 66kg). So how did I get it wrong? Well actually, it all worked out fine… I tried it again on Sunday morning over a pair of Rooster hikers, polypro top and Aquafleece. After only a few moments I was reassured that it was in fact a very good fit. It’s very snug (a lot different to a standard buoyancy aid; and needs a bit of getting used to), it’s a bit like being hugged all day! I wore it for racing both morning and afternoon and found it to be very sleek with a low profile. It’s nicely flexible and comfortable too, but an added benefit for me was that the close fit gave slightly greater thermal insulation, keeping my torso warm and comfortable. I’m not sure how it will age with continuous use, as the material is softer and more flexible than a regular buoyancy aid (time will tell). But it is very well made and has the typical Rooster feeling of quality and robustness, so I’m optimistic it will give good service.

Simply a Must-Have!

This is a must-have addition to your kit bag, as it is just such an advantage over the classics. I sometimes used to struggle with getting under an ILCA boom when tacking (and got dragged in multiple times because of this), but this bouyancy aid has made the problem quite literally vanish! This is due to its low profile, accompanied with its extremely flexible panels making it easy to move around the boat.
