First impressions; Rooster guided me to picking an XL, based mostly on tummy-size. I'm 42" chest, 39" waist (expanded a lot during lockdown).
There is absolutely tons of room in the shoulders. Loads of room around waist; could have fitted into next size down, but then wouldn't have room for warm gear in winter.
The neck is snug, almost too much. Can't take on and off without removing glasses. Neck is also very high, so it snuggles against your chin.
One paddle so far, mild conditions. Normally I'd wear a thin thermal and my old not-water-resistant cag. That would be adequate on the water, but I'd feel a chill once out and the wind hit me.
Opted for just a lycra cycling top under the rooster cag (lycra cycling tops are really good as anti-rash vests).
The combination was almost too warm, with all cuff, waist and neck on the cag left loose.
No water splash penetration. Nothing down my neck, nothing through seams. I must do a capsize and remount to see what it is like then.
After 40 min paddle, the walk back in the wind was cozy. No windchill, just comfortable. Did my usual thing of hosing boat and myself down; no chill.
This cag is great! It will be too much for sunny summer days, but work perfectly through out autumn with minimal additional clothing, and be cozy in winter.
