Personality Over Podiums - What Rooster looks for in potential ambassadors

By Emma Ralph 2nd October 2020

Started in 2016, the Rooster Ambassador programme was designed to offer water dreamers in genuine need and desire easier access to the most comfortable, manageable and technical kit. As a team we constantly develop our selection process for this programme as we enhance our social and economical responsibility to those who need and deserve the kit. I've been involved with the selection process for this for a few years now and it must be mentioned that we get a lot of similar applications, similar pathways, regatta wins, national titles, squad members, it all sounds very impressive, but it's not always what the team is looking for.

Last year we had 500 global applications, we have strict deadlines and have to get through them quickly with only an 8% success rate. That 8% though, that's what has really opened our eyes to some of the incredible people who celebrate the water with us. Nothing shows through an application more than a genuine desire to work with Rooster, a refreshing draw to the water or a totally unique approach on how you get out and stay out. We love stories and personalities, there are so many ways to get yours to shine through on an application: Full sentences, anecdotes, relevant opinions and ideas, enjoyment and inclusivity - how do you get other people involved and how do you share your passion? Community is at the heart of everything we do at Rooster®.

On the water, in the boat park, at work or school. Every day we have the opportunity to give something back and create a better future for those around us. We always look for applicants that contribute to their community and even more so are activists in their environmentalism and have a consistent and thorough approach to protecting our playground. If you think you're up to this task, apply now and show us what you're made of...

Applications for 2021 are now closed - keep your eyes peeled for when applications open again for 2022 sponsorship
