I love these longjohns. I recently purchased and they have been brilliant. I love the reinforced seat and knees (stopping the dreaded knocks and scrapes) and also the ribbed ankles, stopping the legs riding up over my boots. Used for the Regional Junior Championships a few weekends ago and they were perfect. After two days of getting continuously splashed in the face I was still toasty warm (if very tired) when i came in. They are really going to show their true colours come winter. Go Rooster!!!

As with all kit, you get what you pay for, and this is a great garment. I have been using this now since lock down ended, and it's a great fit, comfortable, and well made. In my Cornish waters, I have worn only this, a rash top, a buoyancy aid and still been sweating. I have the hiking pads to fit in these too, and they fit and work far better than the previous hiking shorts only setup I had from another manufacturer.

Used these for winter sailing in the Laser, kept me warm even when I capsized, so I think it's just fine.

This product proves that there are affordable long johns that have amazing quality and provide good confort and the jersey on the inside cases a good isolation. The back end is reinforced and has a stronger liner. The good fit makes it so all the tops are a perfect match. The connection has double locking velcro so it won't come loose.

it is my favorite wetsuit for windy and cold spots for sailing. Superflex and really warm
  • isaac lines , glasgow , 06 February 2020
ive used this suit just over a year for mainly windsurfing racing in windier or colder conditions it is very impressive how much flexibility i have for such a thick and warm suit i useally pair it with the supertherm wetsuit top which is an absolute game changer of when conditions get cold
  • Jonathan Ashworth, Portland, 06 February 2020
Superwarm and affordably priced, rubber ribs on the ankle stop it from riding up and keep a nice seal throughout. paired with the supertherm top your good to go through winter

My wife kindly purchased a SuperTherm top and SuperTherm Long John as my Birthday/Christmas present for this year. As Datchet was set to be wet and wild, it came early :-) I must say - Very impressed. Firstly the fit is excellent. I have a large in both and as it is exactly my size. Im 85Kg, 6ft1" tall, 40" chest and 34" waist.
Saturday I was toasty and warm all day wearing both over a simple rooster polypro. The suit is very flexible and I love the reinforced back of the legs and the grips to hold the ankle section to my boots. Sunday was a howler so put everything to a full test. Despite continuous splash whilst on the wire and a full immersion in a capsize, the kit kept me warm. In fact when I went to get changed my chest area was still completely dry and the polypro was nothing but damp. For anyone who like me previously would get a little shiver after a capsize in the winter I can highly recommendthis kit. Definitely no need for a dry suit which as I have been getting older has become more appealing, however this is definitely the way to go in my opinion.

  • Fiona Attwell, Stamford, 27 November 2019
Our 12 year old daughter is 5’8” and slim, but the medium supertherm long John is a good fit for her and couple with a thermaflex and aquafleece, is keeping her toasty warm for full sailing weekends so far this Winter :)
  • Valerie Anne Hartgrove, COLCHESTER, 22 November 2019

  • Nicholas Palmer, Bangor, 31 October 2019
Our son has worn his all last winter and through the summer... Easy to get on and versatile easily allowing for extra under or over layers. Have just bought the next size up for the coming year!
  • Peter Hewitt, Hayling island, 08 September 2019
really warm and much easier to get on than a wet suit, good quality, and I wore it today for the first time when racing my Tera
  • Orlando , Melbourne , 22 August 2019
the best wetsuit I have ever owned keeps me warm all through winter. it is hard-wearing and has a great fit
  • Dave, Poole, 04 August 2019
Not as good as before (2015/6). No relief flap, and either smaller/less flexible as a size larger feels the same.
  • Dave, Poole, 29 July 2019
Was a great product, however the replacement has come without the relief flap of earlier models.
Rooster Reply:Thanks for the review Dave, we removed the flap due to the feedback we were getting at the time (from those that didn't want it). We've since had an even stronger turn out from the other side and so our future itirations will include one again. We hope to have something that can suit everyone.

Really great suit, well made and versatile, wear with many different combinations to suit all conditions.
  • Malachy Brown, Oxford, 25 April 2019
This is such an amazing long john I wear it all year round and it dries in one night if I have a radiator on high, it is so warm and works with so many different combinations. One of the best rooster products!
  • Christopher Clarke, Bedford, 12 March 2019
My existing Long John was bought in early 2014, and has given great service. My new one is of improved quality and comfort. I layer up, in winter and keep very warm. There is very good support around knees and seat. I always have wear protection shorts on as these prevent it catching on cleats etc. It is a fantastic product, such a great fit, and really good value for money.

I have known Steve for 30 years, some of his early stuff 20 years ago was innovative but variable because he was testing what the materials could deliver. I still use much of that early gear (rash vests, hikers, gloves) he made because it is durable so I took the plunge on this because my old Gul winter steamer had more holes than rubber. The quality of the materials and the build of this suit is fantastic. Points to note: Ankle grip stops riding up, super stretch, warm but not boiling, you forget you are wearing it, hiking pads work with it, very comfortable inside lining, knee and ass zones are robust but super light and flexible. I just wish I was more toned because it hides nothing! Brilliant suit!
  • James Mansfield, Leesthorpe, 29 November 2018
Good for protection and warmth. Knee pads are extremely robust and if you do get through then it is easily fixed. Good in all weather conditions and can easily have a top underneath.
  • Theo Galyer, Hayling Island, 16 October 2018
A decent longjohn to use on a trapeze boat. I use this in the summer on my RS700 and it is well suited. The incorporated knee pads are sleek but sufficient for protection when whacking your knee!! The fit is also athletic which is ideal for my physique (long and skinny). So despite using a 2xl I don't get the bag around waist and chest that I get from some other brands.
  • Nick Welbourn, Lincoln, 18 July 2018
A really warm and unrestrictive wetsuit that I take with me all year round. It can be layered with loads of different tops to fit the coldest of winter days right the way through to summer. It offers unbeatable value for money as an all year round choice.
