Description

The Rooster Classic Hiking shorts have been designed to Southern Hemisphere standards with 10.5" batten pads and ´diamond´ neoprene to give both support and protection with longevity. The knee pads have been redesigned to give better protection and the use of more flexible neoprene behind the knee ensures a comfortable fit on all leg sizes and allows these Hikers to be worn over PolyPro Leggings, Hot Legs or a Thermaflex Long John.
Non stretchy back panel now gives extra back support when the braces are crossed at the front.

Use Wear Protection shorts to give you the right amount of grip and slip and prevent wear of the batten pockets from an abrasive deck - see related items for product details and size chart.

Laundry instructions

We recommend hand washing in warm soapy water and allowing to air dry.

Size Chart

The size chart is a guide for your particular build, where there is a choice between two sizes it is better to opt for the smaller size as these will give less movement between you and the boat.

Sizes are numerical and may span a number of heights or weights.

The table can be scrolled to see the full range of heights.

These hikers have made a real difference. Comfortable but with loads of support.

Very good pair of start out hikers, reasonably priced and comfortable. Unlike more expensive hikers, you cannot remove or adjust the position of the pads, but this brings with it both pros and cons. Altogether comfortable and durable pair of hikers. Very pleased, but removable pads would give 5 stars!

laser sailor: good hikers - although I think I bought slightly too big. 6ft 3 and 85Kg I am between sizes - I'd recommend to go small (as rooster says), but I didn't believe that I was a Medium (sizes now seem to be numbers) so went for Large size. They are comfortable off water, but are really slightly too big - my fault. Guess my recommendation would be that they should feel slightly too small when first bought.

I predominantly sail both Laser Radial's and Laser 2000's, along with the occasional Topper or Pico in really heavy winds. I'm 6'3"", and 12 stone. I find the pads to be perfectly positioned, great for Laser's especially, they're also great in the 2000. They are a tad irritating in light winds, the fact you can't remove them, bout other than that, they're amazing.

As a new member of Team Rooster (check out our blog, George and Sophie, RS200 and Firefly Team Racing) I have been fortunate enough to try out a wide range of the amazing Rooster kit. I have had these hikers for a couple of years and wear them either on their own with a rash vest/PoloPro top in warm weather, or with my Race Skin underneath in the cooler months. As a standard height at 5 ft 6 I chose these as the pads were fixed in place. These are fantastic and I never feel any discomfort when wearing them. I would thoroughly reccommend these hikers.

Not the best I've had, but for the price are excellent. I'm 5'9"" & must be a strange shape as I find the pads are set to low down the leg. They start off in the right place, but as soon as I start to race, they work their way down so they dig into the back of my knees. I'm therefore adjusting the pads everytime I tack. Also there is an annoying red seam just behind the knee that causes discomfort when sitting in, on the run. I've got the right size as I chose the Medium size which is what is recommended in the size guide & they are a very tight fit, but they do stretch quite a bit when they get wet. Overall I'd recommend them, it's just maybe I'm a bit to fussy! BTW. I sail a Laser & next time I'll probably go for the pro version.

    amazing

these hikers are great i am quite small at 5""3 and it has been a struggle for me to find hikers that fit properly and are easy to wear. the rooster pro hikers are great because you can reposition the pads, but they often dig into your legs unless positioned exactly my advice is, if you are small or dont want the hassle of repositiong hiking pads then buy the classics! they are much easier to use and have the same effect!

I tried on various hikers including some costing almost twice the price but I easily settled on a pair of Rooster classic hikers. Easy to get on with no fuss, comfortable, warm, hard wearing as well as giving good support. I wear them under my dry suit, over my Race Skins, or on their own.
  • Sam Hall, Workington, 28 May 2007
These have got to be the best Hikers ever, easy to get on and off and makes hiking so much easier. Nice One Rooster
  • Ann Whitfield, Penarth, 20 January 2007
there nice and easy to get on and of you can also wear them over your wetsuit they also r warm with raceskins in the winter summer spring and autumn
  • Ian Foxwell, Gravesend, 03 August 2006
I've had my Rooster hikers for about 18 months now. They are not only supremely comfortable and do exactly what you would expect a good pair of hikers to do but are still in as new condition. Ian
