Type Approved Road Trailers:

Since January 2013 all UK Dinghy trailers sold, now have to be of an approved design known as Type Approved as defined by the UK Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. All new Rooster Trailers supplied from our manufacturers are Type Approved under the Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) scheme.

All Rooster Type Approved Road Trailers have:

Manufacturers & serial number details on the chassis. All TA trailers (like vehicles) now have a unique VIN number and is marked on the trailers drawbar. The statutory plate is a tamper proof sticker (with the VIN number), and covered with a tamper proof film.

Light and Support Arms:

The lighting position is regulated meaning the board (supplied with the new trailer) now has supporting arms (adjustable) coming off the axle rather than the transom of the boat. The lightboard is 1.8m long so it confirms to current legislation, in that the indicators may be no further than 400mm from the outside of the road trailer. Side reflectors fitted as standard. Swinging arms is an optional extra (standard trailer are fixed arms). The enormous benefit of these is that they can be stowed away when the trailer isn't in use, instead of tripping over them.
