So cold winter sailing is something that very few of us look forward to! However for us it is the start of the team racing season and with all our warm Rooster gear like the Hot-top and Aquafleece Pro it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
We finished off the RS200 year with the End of Seasons at a very light and shifty Datchet. We had our moments but unfortunately weren't conservative enough and ended up with a score line of 12-1-1-4-12 having to settle for 3rd overall.
Next up was the first team racing event of the year at Oxford sailing as Itchenor Team Sonicboom. Again the massive high that plagued the UK for a few weeks meant that there was no sailing on saturday and on sunday, in a desperate attempt to get an event we set off in sub 5 knots. With not enough races to make a semis/finals the results went to what we had completed of the round robin where we had been beaten soundly by Spinnaker, we were left to look back on an average start to the season not making the podium.
Then we had he first edition of Liga Salsa Brava. This is a 3 part event where the top 7 teams in the country are invited to race each other in multiple round robins. The wind had returned which was a nice change and we had a perfect 10-12 knots. Strong starting allowed us to get a good hold in the races and we managed to win the first part on count back from Royal Forth Hoosiers.
Lastly we had the Bristol Brew and the light winds played games and only allowed us one day of racing. This time however we had not come across any of the other top teams so we all had 100% wins and we ended up 2nd on count back to Spinnaker.
So all in all not a bad start and looking forward to seeing what the new year has in store. Merry Xmas & Happy New Year!
