This Is my first blog since joining Team Rooster. Since being in the RYA Topper UK Junior Squad, the winter regatta at Weymouth would be the first time we have raced since our squad training started in October 2014. It would be interesting to see how we all faired.
Rigging in 25kts with gusts of 30kts and a wind chill factor of -...degrees, launching was delayed until 1 o'clock. The AP flag was dropped and launching commenced; because of the air temperature the race committee decided to complete one race then come in, warm up and go out for race 2. I was very pleased with my 4th and 3rd leaving me joint 5th overnight.
Sunday I woke to lighter wind and my heart sank as sailing in light winds is not my strongest area. The racing commenced at 10 o'clock as scheduled with three races being completed. My aim for the weekend was top 25 unfortunately I finished 35th/141. But compared with my result last year of 125th I have improved hugely.
Especially on the Saturday my new
Pro Aquafleece Beanie helped retain body heat against the harsh wind chill.
