'The wind's building'

By Rooster Sailing 30th September 2020

An oft repeated weather observation based solely on wishful thinking which is repeated almost chant-like by beach bound sailors when a ripple is spotted on the horizon. This often followed by a 'rigging frenzy'. A rigging frenzy is a massive group rigging effort which is similar in appearance to a major riot or large scale civil disobedience, this is usually caused by the sight of an overturning leaf, a minutely swaying tree limb or some other indicator, that when combined with unrestrained wishful thinking, signals that the wind may be 'building'.

I found these definitions in an old book of my Dad's when I was avoiding my physics revision book. Needless to say the physics revision was promptly forgotten.
