Start of the Fireball Circuit
Finally exams are now finished! Over the last few weeks we've had the start of the Fireball Golden Dolphin series. We've had some great racing, but it has been very shifty, so a bit difficult to work out how fast you're really going. We've invested in a new GoPro so that we can start to understand our sailing a bit better. I think it will be most useful in boat handling work (which I clearly need after 4 capsizes at Northampton!). I haven't worked out how to do any editing of video yet, but if you fast forward you can see some stuff that is reasonably interesting. The first few mins is pre-start, you get some reasonable upwind shots, a few tacks, a hoist a gybe and a drop... (plus me getting the mainsheet wrapped around the camera - not quick!)
Over the coming months I'll try to do some more filming. So if there's anything you'd like to see (e.g. gybes, high wiring (fireball angle sailing when the breeze is in)), please leave a comment and I'll try to get that in too...
