I started this year with a lot of training as I recently transitioned into a new boat, I spent most of my time training in Cork but I also travelled to Dublin. It was not long before my crew, Bill and I decided we were ready for an event. We decided that we would go to an event in Rutland . We finished 22
nd and although we were not happy with the result, we enjoyed the event all the same. My
SuperTherm gear was really useful for the cold spring weather.
Then it was back to Ireland for more training , getting ready for our qualification series. The series started with the Youth Nationals where we finished 3
rd overall, which we were very happy with! In the second half of the series, the Leinsters, we did not sail as well but fortunately we still qualified for the Europeans. We then headed back to Cork for more training for a couple of weeks. Last weekend it was onto the Munsters, in Dunmore East, where the conditions were tough with a big swell. We finished 3
rd overall (again!) and enjoyed the event.
We plan on training in Ireland until the 3
rd of August, when we will be going to the Europeans in Bulgaria; after that we will head home and straight into the Nationals. That will be the end of our summer season and we don’t know what our Autumn plans are yet.
I am really looking forward to wearing my Rooster
long sleeved rash vest and
leggings to keep the strong Bulgarian sun off my skin.
