Well, it's been a hectic start to the year which has unfortunately meant we haven't been able to sail yet which has been frustrating especially seeing some of the fantastic results the Scorpion fleet have been achieving in the winter general handicap events and not being able to get involved.
Congratulations to Tom Jeffcoate and Tom Pygall who won the Tiger Trophy and Pete Gray and Rachel Rhodes for their success in the Sailjuice winter series, it shows the quality of the scorpion fleet.
We finally managed to get our season underway this Sunday with a couple of races at Dovestone. The aim was to blow away the cobwebs and familiarize ourselves with the boat. I was surprised how quickly everything fell into place, particularly with the boathandling which seemed to be up to scratch from the start.
Despite the sun it was still very cold and gave us chance to run out some of our new kit, Tarren was particularly happy with her new Rooster race skin, which kept her toasty under her drysuit without having the bulk of thick thermals.
Hopefully they'll be a couple more scorpions on the water next week when they aren't AWOL in Madeira and off team racing (the culprits know who they are !!) and the preparations will continue for the Dovestone open meeting on 31st March/1st April.
