With the Topper Nationals fast approaching I have spent the past three days down in Weymouth training with a group of sailors.
We spent a lot of time working on our low speed boat handling and lane holding as these are very import skills for big fleet racing. We also practiced doing turns as being able to complete a penalty turn quickly is a great skill. The wind was in our favour and we had a good range of conditions with strong winds on Wednesday; medium winds on Thursday and light winds on Friday.
Off the water we spent some time talking about boat prep, strategy and about how the wind behaves in Weymouth. My
Supertherm LongJohn kept me warm in the chilly Weymouth breeze.
I’m looking forward to tomorrow when the Nationals start as the conditions look good and there is bound to be some great racing. My goal for the nationals is top half in Gold fleet.
