My Optimist Sailing Year 2015
This year has probably been the best year I have ever had sailing. I have been to loads of events and open meetings, plus I've been spending a lot of time on the water training and having fun with my friends.
In August I went to the Optimist Nationals at Pwllheli, it was very windy and very wavy but I really enjoyed it. My sister took part in her first Nationals in a fleet called mini-racers, she had loads of fun and made lots of new friends.
After all the ranking events were completed this year I found out I had qualified for the National Squad - I was thrilled!!!!
So far we have had a residential at Weymouth (I love sailing at Weymouth) and a very windy weekend at Oxford.
I am also excited because I am taking part in my first International event in January 2016. I will be flying out to Naples, Italy with four others from the National squad to take part in a large Optimist event there. This will be a good time for me to test the new Rooster Supertherm Top that I really hope I am getting for Christmas!
I am also going to Braassemermeer with a big group of other Oppie sailors at Easter. I have been told that it can be very windy and wavy, but I survived Pwllheli!!!!
