Wow! Optimist Layday trying a 420 :-)
3 days of sailing in Trearddur Bay's stunning scenery, fun sailing followed by a BBQ one evening, swimming another and Chinese takeaway another - yum! Sunshine and good winds then off to Pwllhelli on Friday evening in the pouring rain.
The first days sailing was cancelled due to weather conditions, it was a bit cold standing on the beach in the pouring rain waiting to be released. Poor visibility put an end to the days sailing.
I found the senior fleet very competitive, but enjoyable.
Wednesday was a lay day - we had great fun in the 420 which was made available to us. BIG!!! thank you to Emily for crewing for me, I thought she was particularly brave considering she was my regatta fleet coach last year! I loved Helming but the trapeze was brilliant. I just need to grow a bit! Thanks to all involved in putting this on for us especially Dad, for providing rib support.
I had better finishes on Thursday. The MOT team had “drinks in the Campervan Park” with a cable drum table, cup games and some very loud singing which was out of key, sorry to anybody who was trying to sleep but it was soooo funny.
On Friday I didn’t manage to do the last race because I was injured on the very first beat (it was a back injury) but I am fine now.
Thank you to the Safety RIBs and Medic who attended me, you were very supportive and kind. It was scary not having full mobility for a while. It was a bit of a sad end to my week of sailing and I was sorry to hear Vita was very poorly, I hope you are getting better, that was very unlucky.
Flame was her usual brilliant self and no owner could be more proud of their boat and its performance. My Rooster sailing kit was also brilliant all week, I still cannot tell you enough how good the Rooster Race Armour hiking shorts are. Second only to my Aquafleece Pro.
It’s time to get “Siren” out of her prolonged sleep… I also sail a Tera.
I did the Tera squads over the winter and made lots of friends and am looking forward to going back to my favourite sea venue – Weymouth. For those of you who also sail Tera’s see you there…... If not Draycote is fast approaching, I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone soon.
