It's been a busy start to the season for Optimist sailors and its great to see Team Rooster blogging and competing. Well done to Matt Beck from Team Rooster for coming second at Hayling last week on difficult tides.
I was pleased to win the Inland Championships at Grafham a few weeks ago and Matt was a close second. Since then I was second at the Lymington open after 3 bullets on the first day in my favourite conditions - 25 knots.
I'm now focused on the Euros which this year are to be held for the first time in the UK at Pwllheli. We had a pre Euros camp there over half term with no parents and just the coaches and the team has really bonded.
Next week I'm going to Flanders to get some competition training with a big start line and top competitors. The GBR Optimist Worlds Team and Flanders Team will be there alongside a number of us from the GBR Euros team.
In between weekend sailing I train every day in my gym at home or at school. I live opposite the school so I can swim, play basket ball or go on exercise machines. I have a programme that I developed with a sixth former at school who has now gone on to be a fitness instructor in the RAF - that's why I like it in 25 knots!
