Kit Guide
Race 1 was a good one for me, the new boat seems to go OK and after a tough battle with Christian Wakfield I came in 3rd behind Elliot Kuyzk and the consistently fast Hugo "my worst result was a 2nd" Burrows.
Race 2 wasn't great. I spent some of it drifting backwards when the wind did a Bermuda and switched off - nuff said on that one!
Race 3 we had a black flag second start and the line bias switched to the pin end from the committee boat end. I squeezed off the pin end, tacked, cleared the fleet and made the windward mark. Hugo also came off the Pin end with Dan Batty, both with great boat speed showing me their transom all the way in. The racing snake George Vincent was also snapping at my heels on the last leg in to the line.
Race 4 the line bias was back to the committee boat and I again got away well. Unfortunately so do did Christian who I exchanged roll tacks with down the first beat. Once I had passed him Hugo was next to try and cover me followed by Elliot. Great fun though, haven't tacked so much on a beat ever! However, it all went wrong down wind when they all got passed me again so I only managed a 4th!
Overall I was really chuffed to score a 2nd in a light wind event - Rooster provided a huge selection prizes for the overall Southern Traveler Series and, as always Parkstone put on a great event!
1st Hugo Burrows
2nd Charlie South
3rd Elliot Kuyzk
Charlie South - 381
More wind than Bermuda....Just!
Great day for the last of the Rooster Southern Area Traveller Series at Parkstone. Everything was in place including a huge box of Rooster goodies as prizes, 31 Toppers including James Russ sporting a bright yellow hull and sunshine - all that was lacking was the wind. Unlike Bermuda day one though we got four good light wind races in.
