Match Racing
As part of our initiative to liven up our club racing, we decided to do some match racing a couple of Sundays ago but we used our club Oppies, which could not be said to be in top racing spec, but are vaguely like Optimists.
We did get a few adults racing and they proved more than a match for the youngsters (youth and ability is no match for age and treachery) and in the end the oldest sailor out there ended up the winner. Well done to 70 year old John Saddler.
We did a simple windward mark, then run to the finish, with each race lasting just under 5 minutes, so everyone got plenty of racing and it all took about an hour and a half.
