Laser Training at Dalgety

By Ian Baillie 30th September 2020

We ran another successful Laser training day at our club last Saturday and we managed to pick an almost rain free day, although it did get pretty windy at times.
Dalgety Bay has been working hard to get more Lasers out sailing and we have been fairly successful, often getting a dozen out on a Sunday. What is very pleasing is the number of youths in 4.7s and Radials. We managed to secure some funding due to the efforts of our tireless training officer Neil Fuller, so we bought 2 second hand Lasers specifically for our youths and juniors. They have been well used so far and have transformed the enthusiasm of some of our youngsters, who see them as "their" boats. So the training was another step in helping them along. Next time I think we'll try just a couple of hours before Sunday racing so we don't use up so much RIB driver and parent time but we should manage to keep the improvement going along nicely.
