Katie B Update
After leaving the Optimist fleet earlier in the year and starting to sail my Feva, a lot has happened.
Feva Nationals – what a fun event that was! I am hoping to team up with a crew as soon as she has finished the Worlds in Santander and I’m looking forward to our first event in September.
I helped out at the Draycote Optimist Midland Championship event on the committee boat - my main duties were checking the line and time keeping. It was interesting to see things from their point of veiw, also to see how important the CRO and team are, without them your race would get ruined before it started.

This summer is going to be fun with lots of different boats to race and sail around in for fun.
So far I’ve sailed a 420, a Laser using Mum's Rooster Replica Radial rig, which is a bit easier to use than Dad's full rig, I've also sailed one of Draycotes SB20's.

I have spent time with sailors who are new to the sport, through to very experienced National and World Champions, we all have one thing in common. We all enjoy the sport of sailing and go home at the end of the day with a huge grin on our faces.
I have attached a video of the Draycote SB20’s. I think we were the noisiest boat on the water by far (Millie!), we definitely had the most fun! Sailing was followed by a BBQ for tea watching the sun go down with friends. https://youtu.be/w8ADU4g-oJw
Next event for me is the 420 Newbie Training at Draycote Water on the 9-11th August with Tim Rush. Then the Feva Grand Prix on the 3rd and 4th September, again at Draycote.
Enjoy your summer’s sailing. Katie
