Hello from Jenna Snedker
Hi! My name is Jenna and I am so glad and lucky to be part of Team Rooster. I currently sail an Optimist at my home club, Hayling Island Sailing Club. I recently bought a new boat, GBR 6164, which is super speedy! I have had a really busy start to the season so far.
I went to the Parkstone Optimist Open 21-22nd May, which was fun but slightly annoying because I had to get up at 0530 to go! On Saturday it was very wet with a moderate breeze. I got a few good races in but noticed that I had lost a batten as I was sailing in after racing. On Sunday, the wind was lighter and the sun had decided to show up. Unfortunately I had a few bad races which left me 46th out of 60 boats by the end of the event.
During half term my friend and I had some coaching sessions, which was good fun. We worked on starting, covering and our tacks & gybes. I need to improve on these and the coaching definitely helped.
Hayling Optimist Open 11-12th June - out in the BAY!! Saturday brought light winds with 90 boats on the start line. It was going to be tough. I had two ok races but on the second race I was black flagged. Never mind, at least I was on the start line! This was the first time outing for my Rooster Race Armour Shorts and Thermaflex Top, which I found very comfortable and warm.
Sunday brought my favourite wind of all, Force 4-5 and big waves, which was awesome and so cool. I had good races and in one race I was pleased to finish 51st! :-) . I was wearing my Rooster Polypro Top, and my Classic AquaFleece. Over my Diamond Overhead Buoyancy Aid, I wore my Race Bib. All of these products are extremely good and I would recommend them. No more blisters this weekend, as I wore my new Rooster ProRace 5 Gloves. Yippee!
My next event is the Warsash Optimist Open 2nd-3rd July. Really looking forward to it!
Goodbye. Until next time...
