Harvey and Bobby win at Grafham
We had high hopes as we travelled down to Grafham Water for the 3rd Grand Prix of the series.
After lots of close racing on Saturday we were lying 3rd overall on equal points with the leaders, so all to planday. Racing started early with 2 races scheduled in 15 to 25 knots of breeze. We knew a good result was important if we wanted to win.
We led up the first beat with the other boats chasing hard. We maintained our position throughout the race and after a very stressful final run we took the win, which meant we’d won the event with a race to spare.
As the breeze picked up even more for the last race the top 4 boats kept changing places and it was all down to the last run. Having secured the win overall we decided to go all out and go big or go home. We had just taken the lead before the final gybe when disaster struck! As I stepped in for the gybe, my hand slipped on the rudder and we very nearly capsized. In the end we finish the race in fourth – our discard.
The event was really well organised and we had a great weekend.
