Ellie Clark Sailing On & Remembering Holly

My exams are now FINALLY over and I have a summer filled with competitive sailing to look forward to. I’ve spent some time on the water in the 420 with Daisy, who I hope will be crewing for me this winter, and had a day of coaching from Brett Cokayne - he has certainly put us through our paces! We’ve done Lots of work on our routines, and time spent getting Daisy used to the wire and the kite and us both used to sailing together, working on our communication skills and how to make the boat flow - Huge fun! September will be a very special month as a team of us are joining together to sail in the Southport 24 Hour Race in memory of Holly Monk, who sadly and unexpectedly passed away in November last year. She was my Feva crew and best friend and life is not the same without her. The team are doing the race to remember all the fun times we all had with Holly on and off the water but also to raise money for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation and we've been really grateful for the support Rooster have given us with our fundraising. We've got a Justgiving page set up and have raised over £1000 through that, and have recently launched a silent auction. We hope that the wider sailing community will join us by supporting the fundraising we are doing.
