A sunny weekend at oxford
Last weekend we travelled down to oxford for our 3rd national squad training of the year. The weather was awesome blue skies, warm weather and 10-15 knots of breeze! The weekend consisted of lots of sailing but also our fitness retests and some gruelling circuit training. Our squad aim of the weekend was starting and close boat handling so our coach set us up with some short windward leeward courses and rolling starts. With such a short course getting of the start line was key and it really tested our holding station and double tacks. Our results were pretty consistent with all top three’s and lots of firsts!
Overall the weekend was a great success and we were very happy with our upwind speed and starting. We were given lots of things to improve on including tactics and not getting to upset when we have a bad race! We really can’t wait for our first event of the season and were looking for some top results in 2014
With thanks to our coaches Dave Hivey and Nick Burrell and thanks for reading
