Completing a final Blog in 2014 from Barry & Conor.
What a year it was with event wins in the Irish Open, Ulsters, Munsters, Nationals, and going into the final Leinsters event in DunLaoghaire 4/5 October with the chance to complete all 5 titles for the first time in class history.
Unlike the other Irish events of the year it proved a windy weekend at 18-22 knots and taking charge of the conditions in what is becoming a favourite, we came through both days with a score of 1, 2, 2, 1, 1 to win the event with a race to spare.
This capped off the year on a positive note taking all 5 Class titles in Ireland and in turn winning the Traveller's Ranking trophy discarding a 1st, much to our competitors' envy. Finally, then to end the year, the Final Traveller's prizegiving took place in the National YC on 30th November. We collected our prizes for top gong and medals for the year's work. As well as the 5 Irish event wins, there was also a win at the Shetland Nationals, 4th at the Europeans with race wins and 5th at the UK Nationals so all in all, a satisfying year.
We would like to thank Team Rooster once more for our gear and help as well as Team North for sails. Looking onto next year, the primary goal shall be the Fireball Worlds in Pwheli, Wales in August 2014. Even harder work, dedicating more time in the gym in order to be fitter and stronger for 2015 as well as bigger efforts on the water we hope to be closer in 2015 to the big players and challenge overall at the top!
Happy Christmas and new Year to all. Rooster Beanies & winter gloves on for frostbite racing!
