A quick update!
Hi, it is Sophie Taylor here and I sail a 420 with Rachel Mawer.
The past few weeks we have been rather busy with boat prep in preparation for our first event at Pwllheli. Our boat had been sorted out with new grip, slot gasket, spinnaker halyard, jap tape, sails as well as fixing the leaks. This was all finished off with a good polish! Pwllheli was good fun even though our results weren't what we hoped and Rachel felt ill on the water so we had to come in which resulted in missing two races. We had learnt lots and realised our starting needed to be worked on.
Last weekend we were at Scottish Squad again on Cumbrae and spent most of the weekend working on starting. We joined up with the 420s that were training at Largs so we had 6 boats on the start line. We have improved and I have gained confidence so we are now better prepared for Hayling Island this weekend! Also, due to our ages, we realised it was the last year of winter squads for all the boats in it and this resulted in a rather emotional time for some. However, we still have the Summer Squad to look forward to!
Thanks for reading!
Sophie Taylor
