A great WEEKEND
Hamish and I headed to Grafham for the first of the two weekends for the squad qualifiers. After a very early start (lots of moans from Dad on Saturday morning), we arrived at Grafham water - cold damp and really foggy. Definitely a day for lots of Rooster layers and my Hikers- they are so warm and comfy!
Great news as the fog cleared and we got started on time, in a fleet of 48. We were aiming for the intermediate cadet class squad and if we raced out of our skins go for the RYA NJS.
Helped by 9 black flag boats in the first race we opened up our account with a 5th which we were over the moon with, especially given shifty light winds.
At the end of day 1 we were mid teens - great!
On day two, with much more breeze and lovely sun we managed 22, 16 and another 5th.
Overall we were 15 and just missed our on 3rd in the silver fleet.
We are currently in with a shout of the NJS (currently qualifying) and can't quite believe it! We are off to Dabchicks for another 6 races to decide who qualifies and who does not. With everything crossed, we hope that our skills and Rooster racing bibs win through in the end........ See our next blog for the result!
