29er Sprint Racing at Hayling Island
It was really great to get back on to the water last Saturday afternoon. Debbie Darling, Paul Carpenter and Paul Hammett had organised some sprint racing and around 10 boats signed up. If you're not sure it's a short course (windward/leeward) with a back to back series of 6 races that last about 20 mins each. From the time the last boat crosses the line there's a 3 minute warning (after a massive 1 minute rest!). Needless to say it's quite brutal (physically) but great for fitness, boat handling and tactics as a small mistake can see you go from the front of the fleet to the back in a matter of seconds, as we discovered.
