Mass production of a carbon ‘tracked’ mast would be a serious time limiting factor. A well known Carbon Mast Manufacturer would consider an order for 200 masts to be a very large order, so an order for 1000 per year would be beyond their current production facility.
However, they can produce an aluminium tracked mast in the quantities we are looking for – so hence the question has to be asked -

Have you considered a sleeved, zipped sail on an untracked mast? It works well for smaller boats such as Byte and Comet Extra, but I’m not sure if it will work for bigger sails.

For me, a track is a must-have thing, but I can’t see why this rules out a carbon mast. The RS300 has a carbon mast with an ally track glued or rivetted on (sorry, not sure which), and this works very nicely. The track is readily available off the shelf.
It would be a shame to spoil the credentials of the boat by putting a tin rig on it just because of this issue.
